The Introduction to Disability workshop is the first step in the Caring for Our People Training project. We recommend attending this workshop before the specialized workshops on special education, early childhood and vocational rehabilitation. As with all of our modules, do feel free to go to the pages that interest you in the order that meets your needs. The maain topics covered in this workshop are summarized below.

Introduction to culture and disability: common issues facing programs in Indian country, facts about education, diagnosis and resources for those who are new to reservation communities or the disability field. Native American families - cultural competence, views on death and dying, Indian educational experiences, Dakota styles of leadership

Resources of all types If someone doesn't know an IPE from an IFSP, here is a guide to explain it. This section also links to places that provide services, a page on financial resources and a 110-page guide to service resources in North Dakota.
