DISABILITY ACCESS: Empowering Tribal Members with Disabilities & Their Families
Provided by Spirit Lake Consulting, Inc.
Early intervention is critical. Infants and young children with visual impairments may not explore their environments as much as children with normal vision because they cannot see objects in the distance that will motivate them to move over and 'check it out'. They may not model behavior of adults or other children because they cannot see them. The state's infant development program, Head Start and Early Childhood Tracking can all provide assistance to young children and their families. ASSIGNMENT
The North Dakota State Library Disability Services provides talking books and magazines to any North Dakota resident who is unable to read standard print material because of a visual, physical, or reading impairment.
